2025 Gold Star Award
Apex Engineering Group’s 16th Street SW Reconstruction project in Minot, ND was awarded a 2025 Gold Star Award. Gold Star Awards are given annually by the North Dakota Ready Mix & Concrete Products Association and the North Dakota Chapter, Inc. – American Concrete Pavement Association to recognize projects that demonstrate excellence in concrete, including innovation, quality workmanship, visual appeal, and more.
The 16th Street SW reconstruction project rebuilt a key corridor serving residential, school, and business areas, adding concrete pavement, upgraded drainage, and improved pedestrian features. A major focus was fixing chronic flooding at the Burdick Expressway intersection by expanding the storm sewer system and adding retention ponds to better manage runoff. The roadway was upgraded from asphalt to concrete, with added turn lanes to improve durability and traffic flow. Pedestrian and aesthetic enhancements included a wider shared-use path, stamped concrete boulevards, and decorative retaining walls. The crew had the opportunity to use stringless paving technology for this project, which improved site safety, reduced costs and saved time. The project was completed successfully, resulting in a safer, longer-lasting roadway.
Congrats to the City of Minot and all involved in this award-winning project.
