Apex Engineering Group was part of the design team and building
committee that worked with Detroit Mountain Recreation Area, Inc.
(DMRA) a non-profit organization charged with redevelopment of the
once popular Detroit Mountain ski hill.
Specifically, Apex provided planning, design, and construction
services on the following aspects at the facility:
- Multi-tiered parking lot
- Access road
- Site grading for the parking area, lodge and modifications to
- Snowmaking facilities including a 4.0 million gallon holding
basin, pump intake structure and wet well, and high pressure
pumping facility to the snowmaking distribution system.
DMRA transformed the former ski area into a four-season
recreational center that includes downhill and cross country
skiing, tubing, mountain biking, hiking, and other activities. The
project included complete replacement of the former facilities and
was constructed in 2014 in time for the ski season. Apex is proud
to be a part of this $8.0 million renovation project.
