The NDDOT contracted with Apex Engineering Group to provide construction observation and administration for 32-lane miles of Interstate Highway, spanning the southbound lane of Interstate 29 from just north of the ND Hwy 66 junction, near Joliette, ND.

Project Details

This stretch of Interstate 29 required substantial improvements and repairs to improve its integrity and enhance the safety for motorists along the corridor. The repair work included thousands of full and partial depth pavement repairs, dowel bar retrofits, PCC grinding and joint sealing.  Engineering judgment was used to evaluate the existing pavement and locate the repairs identified in the plans and any additional areas in need of repair. Construction inspection was necessary in order to ensure all construction activities met NDDOT standard specifications.

The project was completed in November, 2011 and it is expected the repair work will extend the pavement's life and delay major reconstruction for another 10 years.

Project Cost: $3,620,000
